Caution: The Fort Carré is closed in case of bad weather

As a maritime and border city, Antibes has long had to defend itself, and much of its built heritage is directly inherited from this context. The Saracen towers, the old Grimaldi castle, the Fort Carré, the ramparts of the bastion Saint-Jaume to the bastion Saint-André, are all markers in our urbanism of a violent reality, the fear of assaults, looting, bombing, in a word, war.
But what is war? This year’s programme at Fort Carré offers points of view, reflections on commitment, on the duty...As a maritime and border city, Antibes has long had to defend itself, and much of its built heritage is directly inherited from this context. This year’s programme at Fort Carré offers points of view, reflections on commitment, on the duty to remember, on the traumas it engenders: thematic visits, workshops, café-museums to debate, a film tour around Paisà by Roberto Rossellini, and a theatrical walk in partnership with the Conservatoire de musique et d'art dramatique d'Antibes.
