It is a stroll full of tenderness that is offered to us, a postcard of this region of Brittany which, even neglected by the fiery rays of the sun of the great South and the special light of Provence, releases passion, beauty, truth, naturalness, the mystery and the legend.
François Ravard’s painting is a trunk that we open, and in which we find these photo albums to browse with tenderness. Landscapes, ocean views, snapshots, frames, magic, land of fairies and Korrigans.
The novelist Aurélie Valognes likes to say that he «draws to whisper what he cannot say, to shout what he thinks, to share an emotion and to be less alone in his feelings».
Painting Brittany is not a trivial exercise, we must be imbued with it, understand it, and as such our artist, who lives in Dinard in front of the Cité des corsaires, is the privileged of a grandiose show that is constantly renewed. No matter the rains or the black skies, the rays of sunshine that follow will bring forth this magic of new pastel shades that have enchanted the Corot, Turner, Matisse and many others. The tides are there to erase twice a day the paper or the canvas so that the artist can resume the work, constantly amazed.
