Telephones and call buttons have transformed the way of life in aristocratic homes and private or tourist hotels.
While the phone allowed remote contact, the call button allowed the house staff to be solicited without being forced by a permanent presence.
At a time when phones have taken an important place in our lives by becoming a real laptop, this exhibition offers a look back and presents the origins of communication and telephony with parts from 1877 to 1930.
The buttons or call bells presented unfold their history, which began under the reign of Louis XIV with simple doorstrings and, over time, become true works of art created by famous jewelers and sculptors like Pierre-PierreKarl Fabergé, declined in many themes and using sometimes precious materials.
