Wetlands are environments characterized by the presence of water on which depends a whole procession of animal and plant species. Of various forms, these environments meet from mountains to coastline. Thanks to their functioning, they provide valuable goods and many services to the surrounding environment, biodiversity and humanity.
Long ignored and often destroyed, drained or backfilled, wetlands have become fragile environments in decline. In France, more than 50% of wetlands disappeared between 1960 and 1990! The Conservatory of Natural Spaces and its partners work to take into account and protect wetlands in development projects and public policies.
